Life Lately | Volume 1
How is it that we're already wrapping up the first quarter of 2017? Is it just me, or this kind of mind blowing? (Not that I am complaining about the beautiful spring days we've been having or itching for beach days or anything.) In any case, it's time to take a look at what's been going on around here lately.
First thing's first: we're moving! My roommates and I have been in West Ashley for about 6 months, but have decided that downtown is definitely where we'd like to be. Three of us will be living in an apartment on Society Street right in the heart of the historic district, and I could not be more excited. I'll be able to walk to both of my jobs and all of the great restaurants and bars, and the idea of basically never having to move my car is sounding nothing short of amazing. We're going for a final walk through and to sign the lease next week – fingers crossed everything comes together smoothly!
And yes, you read that right. I'm now working two jobs (a girl has to pay for her fancy new downtown digs somehow!). Along with my full time gig at Candlefish, where I primarily make candles and teach candle making workshops, I'm a brand new member of the production team at A Signature Welcome. ASW specializes in curating custom gifting baskets for weddings, corporate events, and everyday celebrations. Creativity at its finest.
PLUS, A FEW THINGS ON MY RADAR...
Love, Actually. The official 1 minute preview of the Love, Actually sequel is here! It may just be a 10 minute short, but I don't think anybody is more excited than I am.
Everyday I'm Tasselin'. Tassels are every. where. lately. I was shopping around the other day, and almost purchased a pair of fun little earrings, but after looking closely, I realized that these little beauties are something that I could so easily make for myself at a fraction of the cost. So, after a quick trip to Michael's, I wound up with my first pair of DIY tassel earrings. Stay tuned for more!
"This Is The Moment When Your Heartbreak Will End". This is a bit more personal than I usually like to get on my little corner of the Internet, but I had a really, really rough night on Friday. As I was getting ready for bed around midnight, I started crying out of nowhere and just. couldn't. stop. Like, for hours. On Saturday morning, I happened upon this article via Thought Catalogue, and it put some things into perspective for me. That definitely wasn't the first time I've had days like that over the past year, but it always makes me feel like I'm taking steps backwards when I do. Like I started this new life for myself, but still have days where this ball of sadness hits me out of nowhere and I feel like I've accomplished absolutely nothing. Little by little is what I need to remember...
Defining Spirituality. I came across this Refinery 29 article in which 11 millennials defined their spirituality and how it differs from religion. As someone who is definitely not "religious", it is spot on.
@vibrantandpure. Food stylist Adeline Waugh is creating #toastgoals. I don't know about you, but sometimes I just want to look at some colorful food. And it doesn't hurt when it's named after mythical creatures.
Health Benefits of Lemons. I love lemons. I put lemon juice on my salmon and vegetables, mix it in with my avocado toast, and drop a few too many slices into my evening vodka sodas. But did you know all of the health benefits that lemons provide? I'm going to try swapping my iced coffee with lemon water as the weather warms up.
